EMDR Therapy

EMDR helps clients heal from the emotional distress of disturbing life experiences. Unresolved emotional and psychological trauma can disrupt our ability to form healthy connections, feel secure, and occasionally will show up in a variety of physical ways. EMDR is an alternative to traditional talk therapy. The goal of EMDR therapy is to assist clients in processing, not merely talking about, unresolved issues that have been stored maladaptively in the brain and continue to disrupt thinking, feelings and behavior.

Research has shown, and we have experienced, EMDR to be a very effective treatment for a number of people dealing with a variety of issues.

Studies show that 84-90% of survivors with single trauma incidents no longer meet the criteria for PTSD after only three sessions. In as little as six sessions, PTSD symptoms decreased for 100 percent of single trauma victims and 77 percent of multiple trauma victims.

Family Therapy

Our therapists have experience working with dysfunctional family patterns, high conflict, enmeshment, and addiction. We support family members in understanding their role (or lack thereof) in the healing process. We work with all the feelings that come with these diagnoses including betrayal, confusion, questions, anger, sadness, and more.

The entire family needs to heal in order for the individual to recover appropriately. The behaviors and disorders we work with always disrupt relationships, family relationships being the most affected. The entire family needs to heal in order for the individual to recover appropriately.

It is very common for Prime Counseling to work with the entire family: mother, dad, sister, brother, cousins, spouse, and the individual struggling. We support through individual therapy, couples therapy, and family therapy when everyone is ready.

Individual Therapy

Counseling, also known as psychotherapy, is the process of an individual meeting together with a mental health professional. The session consists of talk therapy, treatment planning, trauma processing, and recovery accountability. It is a safe spot to share and discuss things that you choose not to tell others or want help processing.

Individual therapy can be a good place to start if you are looking for help in knowing where to go next. We work with treatment centers to be able to recommend the correct level of care based on the level of unhealthy behaviors.

The goal of therapy is to learn to change self-destructive behaviors and habits, resolve painful feelings, improve your relationships, and more. Our counselors are trained and experienced in working with an array of individuals and challenges. Your counselor will take time to hear your full story and will work with you in alleviating the unhealthy coping skills. Our goal is to help you find and become your best self

Couples Therapy

Our therapists are here to help your relationship whether you are currently struggling or playing offense for future issues. Relationships are supposed to have fights and conflict. Fights mean that people are advocating for themselves and being honest. The goal of a healthy relationship is when these fights and conflict are respectful and produce growth (instead of resentment).

We believe that the best couples therapy is a balance of nurturing the relationship and growing yourself. Your therapist will share a non-biased objective into your unhealthy patterns and unwanted cycles. Issues brought up in therapy include trust issues, parenting battles, infidelity, in-law issues, sexual dysfunction, loss of connection, etc.
