LPC-Associate Supervision
Selecting a supervisor is a super important part of stepping into the next phase of your career. It is important that you feel safe with your supervisor and that you are getting the training you deserve while becoming the best professional counselor you can be. If we work together, our relationship will be super collaborative and therefore needs to line up with your therapeutic goals.
I choose associates based off of multiple factors including professional motivation, current group associate vibes, theoretical orientation, career aspirations, and more. I am always accepting new associates, but don’t accept every associate.

About Me:
Hi 👋🏻, My name is Jennifer Shotwell and I own a group practice in Dallas, Texas.
I have worked in a range of settings including transitional living houses, inpatient rehabilitation, non-profits, intensive outpatient treatment, and private practice.
I use EMDR with basically every client
I am currently working on my dissertation that focuses on the differences between Borderline & Complex PTSD
My specialities include personality disorders, high-conflict families, addiction, spiritual trauma, and high-profile clients.
My theoretical orientation is based in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. (REBT) & Internal Family Systems (IFS).
My Story:
My story includes feeling misunderstood and overwhelmed, quite often. It felt that I was always being given incorrect information about myself. All the help I was getting was only looking at the external coping skills and behaviors. I was being told '“stop drinking” when seeking substance abuse help or “you need to be nicer” when seeking support for broken friendships. I remember feeling that I would never get the help I needed. It wasn’t until I had messed up my life pretty bad that someone finally asked what else was going on. At Prime Counseling, we skip the first part and immediately dive into the core issues negatively impacting your life and relationships.
